I just received a lovely note from someone who used to work in the same department as me way back. I haven’t seen her for years, but we’ve exchanged a couple of messages now and then. I’m honoured to know she loved my memoir, but a big surprise for me in her comments was in learning how she viewed me as a person. I guess it’s true that others see us differently from how we see ourselves. I’m thinking I need to research and write a blog about that topic…

Sheila, I read your book yesterday afternoon/evening in one go. I couldn’t put it down! I love your writing style and your book was very moving. I hope it was liberating for you to get all this out. One thing that struck me when reading your story was the disconnect between how we see ourselves and how others see us. Your struggles with self worth were not apparent to me when we worked alongside each other at PwC. You exuded intelligence, confidence and a no-nonsense, don’t-mess-with-me, I-don’t-suffer-fools-gladly attitude that I admired. You also did amazing work – PwC’s tax publications never looked better!
